We have another full 15-game slate on Saturday in the majors with the first game starting at 2:10 p.m. ET between the Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox. We are going to look at the best pitching matchup and the sleeper pitching matchup that could turn out to be a pitchers’ duel.

Best Matchup: Jacob deGrom vs. Joe Musgrove

The best matchup on Saturday’s MLB schedule will happen at 10:10 p.m. ET between the New York Mets and San Diego Padres. NL MVP candidate Jacob deGrom will get the start for the Mets, while Joe Musgrove will be on the mound for San Diego. deGrom has been lights out this season with a 4-2 ERA and a career-low 0.71 ERA. The two-time NL Cy Young award winner has had success over his career at Petco Park with a 3-2 record and 1.78 ERA. As for Musgrove, he has a record of 4-4 and 2.08 ERA, which includes the no-hitter he threw this season against Texas. This season, the Padres starting pitcher has pitched good at home with a 3-2 record and 2.40 ERA in five starts.

Sleeper Matchup: Aaron Civale vs. John Means

If deGrom and Musgrove are the best matchup, then we will get treated to a solid sleeper matchup earlier on Saturday between the Cleveland Indians and Baltimore Orioles at 4:05 p.m. ET. Aaron Civale will be on the mound for the Indians, while the Orioles will run out ace John Means.

Civale has been the second-best starting pitcher for Cleveland behind former AL Cy Young winner Shane Bieber. The young pitcher has a record of 7-2 and 3.28 ERA through 11 starts this season. Meanwhile, Means has been one of the best pitchers in the American League and one of the many pitchers who have thrown a no-hitter. The O’s ace is 4-1 with a 2.05 ERA through 11 starts this season. Means suffered his first loss of the season in his last start against the Chicago White Sox, but still ended the month of May with a 2.43 ERA.
