MLB has provided us with an 11 game slate to kick the week off, with all the action getting started just after 5 p.m. EST when the Pittsburgh Pirates take on the Colorado Rockies. Here we’ll take a look at the best pitching matchups on the card tonight.

Best Matchup: Trevor Bauer vs Anthony DeSclafani

There are a few pretty good pitching matchups on tap today, but this one takes the cake. Bauer has been a polarizing figure in the baseball world over the last few years, but he’s also been one of the most dominant hurlers in the game. He comes into this one with an ERA just over 2.50 and 129 strikeouts to his name.

DeSclafani hasn’t had the overwhelming power of Bauer, but he’s been just as good. He boasts an 8-2 record with wins in his last four straight. Though he’s tossed against LA twice this season and it hasn’t gone well, only going 7.1 innings combined while giving up a total of 12 earned runs in that span.

Sleeper Matchup: Kyle Hendricks vs Freddy Peralta

Any other night of the week, this would be the go-to pitching duel around the league. But since the above matchup is happening, this one is relegated to ‘sleeper’ status.

Hendricks has been a horse for the Cubs recently, coming away with wins in his last seven starts. He’s given up just two earned runs in his last 18 innings pitched too. In his two starts against the Brewers this season he’s gone 12 innings and allowed just two Milwaukee runners to cross the plate.

Peralta has been just as solid for the first-place Brew Crew. His ERA is down to 2.11 and has given up just seven runs over his last 44.2 innings tossed. He’s done battle with the Cubbies three times this year, all back in April. In those outings, he went 15 total innings and allowed just three runs. So it should be a great matchup in Wisconsin tonight.
