All 30 Major League Baseball teams are scheduled to take the field, and the slate features 16 games on Friday, June 25th due to a doubleheader between the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets. The day of baseball starts in the late afternoon and runs till late at night, and here is a preview of what to watch for in the MLB.
Best Games To Watch
Two of the best teams in baseball will get a three-game series started when the San Francisco Giants host the Oakland Athletics at 9:45 p.m. ET. San Francisco’s 48-26 record is the best in the league, and Oakland is 46-31 for the No. 3 spot in the MLB, though they are behind the Houston Astros in the American League West.
Later in the night, the Los Angeles Dodgers will host the second of a four-game set against the Chicago Cubs at 10:10 p.m. ET. Chicago won Thursday night’s game 4-0 to move into a tie with the Milwaukee Brewers at 42-33 for the top record in the National League Central. The Dodgers are 48-26 this season but trail the Giants by 4.5 games.
Fantasy Spotlight
The highest over/under on the games taking place tonight is the Baltimore Orioles on the road against the Toronto Blue Jays with a 10.5 run total. It is not too difficult to see why when Baltimore rolls out Matt Harvey, who has a 7.80 ERA and 3-9 record this season. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. appears to be taking over as one of the top hitters in baseball, and that success should continue on Friday night.
Rookies to Watch
After missing two months with a wrist injury, Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes has been a consistent part of the lineup. Hayes played in 18 games since returning from the injured list and recorded a hit in 15 of them. He has gotten on base twice in each of his last three games, and he will be facing Kwang Hyun Kim and the St. Louis Cardinals. In the same game, the Cardinals’ rookie outfielder Dylan Carlson recorded a hit in three consecutive games including a pair of hits in Thursday night’s game against the Pirates. He will face Wil Crowe, who is 0-4 this season with a 6.42 ERA.
