The Los Angeles Dodgers announced on Monday that infielder Max Muncy was activated off of the 10-day injured list and optioned outfielder Zach Reks back to Triple-A. Muncy was on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain that caused him to miss nine games for Los Angeles.

According to Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times, Muncy will start at second base in tonight’s game against the Padres. Before going on the injured list, the 30-year-old was slugging .264/.418/.528 with 14 HRs and 33 RBI in 60 games. With Muncy back in the starting lineup, it will give the Dodgers another bat to go along with Justin Turner and Mookie Betts.
Chris Taylor will eventually head back to the bench, but the serviceable work he did in place of the injured Muncy is buying him a little more time in the lineup. In the Dodgers’ last nine games, Taylor hit .161 with 2 HRs and 3 RBI. This season, the 30-year-old is hitting .262 with 10 HRs and 37 RBI.
