We take a look at the games on slate for Friday, June 11th in the 2021 MLB season.

We have a 14-game slate in the majors on Friday, beginning at 2:20 p.m. ET. Before first pitch between the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs, we’ll take a look at the best games on the schedule, rookies to keep an eye out for, and spotlight a relevant fantasy option.

Best Games To Watch

For it being an almost full schedule of games in MLB Friday, there are only four games that are worth checking out. The first game begins at 2:20 p.m. ET as the Cardinals and Cubbies begin a three-game set at Wrigley Field. St. Louis is only three games behind both Chicago and Milwaukee for first place in the NL Central. The next game on the schedule to tune into is the San Francisco Giants and Washington Nationals at 7:05 p.m. ET. Anthony DeSclafani and Max Scherzer were pushed back to Friday after Thursday was rained out.

Also, happening during the 7 p.m. ET hour, the San Diego Padres and New York Mets will face off at Citi Field on MLB Network. Blake Snell will get the start for the Padres, while the Mets will give the ball to Jacob deGrom, who has a 0.62 ERA. To end Friday night, Shohei Ohtani will make another start at 9:40 p.m. ET against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Fantasy Spotlight

New York Mets ace pitcher Jacob deGrom has been one of the best players in regular baseball and also fantasy baseball. The two-time Cy Young winner was picked early in most fantasy baseball drafts and is consistently one of the highest valued arms in DFS. He has a record of 5-2 and a stellar 0.62 ERA. In his last three starts, deGrom is averaging 32.4 fantasy points per game, which also factors in his last outing against the Padres.

Rookies to Watch

Cincinnati Reds rookie second baseman Jonathan India has made an impact and name for himself in one of the best offenses in the majors. India is slashing .257/.369/.412 with 5 HRs and 25 RBI in 49 games this season. He may not garner a lot of attention in the NL Rookie of the Year race, especially with the likes of Trevor Rogers, Ke’Bryan Hayes, and Dylan Carlson. However, he’s worth keeping an eye on as he has started to produce and will look to bounce back from a disappointing month of May.
