How to watch, what to watch for on May 20th of the 2021 MLB regular season

We take a look at the games on slate for May 20th in the 2021 MLB season.

Thursday’s 11-game MLB slate will begin with a pair of games at 12:35 p.m. ET and end with a 10:10 p.m. ET matchup between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers. There aren’t a ton of primetime matchups scheduled, but we’ve identified some of the best games, fantasy targets, and rookies to keep an eye on.

Best Game To Watch

The race for the top of the American League EAast should be interesting, and the division’s top two teams will battle it out on Thursday. The Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays have split the first two games of their three-game series, and the winner of the rubber game will move to the top of the American League East. Boston is ahead by just half a game. Both teams are explosive at the plate and can score runs with ease.

Fantasy Spotlight

The Atlanta Braves are fresh off a win against the National League East-leading New York Mets. Seven batters combined for a total of 10 hits in a 5-4 win. Austin Riley is riding a four-game hitting streak in which he's tallied six hits and five runs. He’s also notched two solo home runs during that span. If the Braves can rally against the Pittsburgh Pirates’ middle-of-the-pack rotation, Atlanta could return a ton of fantasy value.

Rookie to Watch

The Texas Rangers are last in the American League West, but Adolis Garcia has been a bright spot for them on offense. Randy Arozarena and Yermin Mercedes are the only rookies with more hits this season. He’s tallied at least one hit in seven of his last 10 games and the New York Yankees’ pitching has been up and down.
