There were 14 MLB games in each of this week’s first two days, and we’ll get even more action on Wednesday. There will be a 15-game slate on hump day, and it will begin with a matchup between the Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals at 1:10 p.m. ET. The Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies is set to begin at 8:40 p.m. ET. Let’s take a look at some of the best games, fantasy storylines, and rookies to watch.
Best Games To Watch
The Houston Astros pulled off a 4-2 win against the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday, and both teams are among the best in MLB so far this season. Houston is among the leaders in total hits and Los Angeles has been one of the best pitching teams around. Whether the Angels can follow up Dylan Bundy’s 10-strikeout performance from Tuesday with another strong showing remains to be seen. They’ll need a quality rotation to limit Houston’s offense.
The Nationals got off to a strong start in their season-opener and took down the winless Braves, who are now 0-4 on the year. Atlanta is digging itself a big whole to kick off 2021 and could come on strong after losing by just one run on Tuesday.
Fantasy Spotlight
The Cincinnati Reds have long been considered a middling team but have been one fo the more productive batters in MLB so far this season. They hardly strike out and only the Astros have a better slugging percentage. The put up a boatload of runs against the Pittsburgh Pirates’ suspect rotation on Tuesday and can do the same on Wednesday.
Rookies to Watch
Nick Madrigal was very efficient at the plate last season and hit .340 in 103 at-bats. He’s off to a slow start in 2021, but hits for contact very well when he’s at his best. He’s a threat to rack up steals when he gets on base. If he can get rolling on Wednesday, he can gain momentum that will help him moving forward.
