Chicago White Sox announced on Tuesday afternoon that outfielder Luis Robert will be placed on the 10-day injured list with an illness. Chicago has put right-handed pitcher Alex McRae on the active roster to take Robert’s spot.
White Sox general manager Rick Hahn put out a statement stating that Robert called their medical staff Monday night with flu-like symptoms. This season, the 23-year-old outfielder is slugging .305/.356/.463 with a home run and six RBI in 90 plate appearances. Robert also recorded four stolen bases and seven walks.

With Robert on the shelf for the foreseeable, we could see Leury Garcia play a lot of centerfield for the Sox. This season, Garcia is slashing .170/.188/.213 with two RBI and a stolen base in 49 plate appearances. The 30-year-old Garcia will get the start on Tuesday night against the Detroit Tigers. The White Sox also recalled 25-year-old outfielder Luis Gonzalez to give them more depth in the outfield.
