How to watch, what to watch for on April 20th of the 2021 MLB regular season

We take a look at the games on slate for Tuesday, April 20th in the 2021 MLB season.

Monday’s MLB slate was a light one, but there Tuesday’s will feature a healthy helping of games. Sixteen games are on tap for the second day of the new week, and the Los Angeles Dodgers will kick things off against the Seattle Mariners at 4:10 p.m. ET. The Milwaukee Brewers and San Diego Padres will start wrapping things up at 10:10 p.m. ET, and we’ve identified some of the best games, fantasy options, and rookies to keep an eye on during the day.

Best Games To Watch

The American League Central matchup between the Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Indians at 6:10 p.m. ET is one to keep an eye on. The two teams have eight wins apiece and have already split a four-game series 2-2 this year. Carlos Rodon is pitching for Chicago and threw a no-hitter against Cleveland last week. It’s not likely that Rodon will replicate that performance, but tracking his second meeting with the Indians could be fun. Zach Plesac was outright horrendous the last time he faced the White Sox and forked up seven hits and six earned runs in just 2/3 of an inning. Can the 26-year-old bounce back? Time will tell.

Fantasy Spotlight

The St. Louis Cardinals beat up on Joe Ross on Monday by racking up eight hits and four runs on him in just 4.1 innings. They went on to score 12 runs against the Washington Nationals in a win and will face off against Patrick Corbin on Tuesday. Corbin got blasted by the Diamondbacks in his last start and gave up nine earned runs, and three earned runs in a pair of innings. Corbin’s ERA is an abysmal 21.32, so the Cardinals could be poised to tee off again if he doesn’t find his confidence.

Rookies to Watch

Ke’Bryan Hayes is the Pittsburgh Pirates’ star rookie, but another one is making news this season. Infielder Phillip Evans was hitting above .300 until last Friday and has hit three bombs this season. The 28-year-old hasn’t notched a hit in three games, but he’ll be up against a Detroit Tigers team that’s given up the most runs in MLB so far. He has a chance to get back on track in this matchup.
