ESPN+ will host Friday’s matchup between the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres with first pitch at 10:10 p.m. ET. The game will take place at Petco Park in San Diego. D-Backs second baseman Ketel Marte had a great start to the season, hitting 4-of-5 with a solo home run in the fifth inning. As a team, Arizona hit four home runs in Thursday afternoon’s back and forth contest. Ace Madison Bumgarner allowed seven hits, six earned home runs, two home runs, and struck out six hitters in four innings pitched.
The San Diego Padres will try to build off their win on Thursday afternoon, which saw first baseman Eric Hosmer go 3-of-4 with three RBI. Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado went 1-10 with one run scored and four strikeouts. Catcher Victor Cartini also had three RBI as he went 2-4 on the day. Yu Darvish made his debut for the Padres, where he allowed eight hits, four earned runs, two home runs, and struck out six batters in 4.2 innings pitched.
