Should you pay up for Joe Ross against St. Louis?

The Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox square off on Monday in an early matinee. April 19th is Patriots Day in Massachusetts, and it has become an annual tradition for the Red Sox to play an early day game each year. Normally, this is the same day as the Boston Marathon, but the race has been pushed back to October due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

MLB Network will broadcast the game nationally outside of the two markets. If you are in the Chicago market, the game will also air on NBC Sports Chicago. If you are in the Boston market, the game will also air on NESN.

If you aren’t around a TV to check out this MLB matinee, you can stream the game via MLB.tv or at the MLB Network website. There are currently free trials available if you want to give MLB.tv a try, while the MLBN website requires a cable log-in. If you don’t have a cable login to access MLB Network for a live stream, you can likely find a free trial at one of YouTube TV, Hulu with Live TV, AT&T TV Now, FuboTV, or Sling TV to stream the game.

Chicago enters the game with an 8-8 record and is third in the AL Central, two games back of first place Kansas City. Boston is 10-6 and in first place in the AL East, two games up on second place Tampa.

This is the final game of a four-game series between the two teams. Boston won the opener on Saturday and Chicago swept a doubleheader on Sunday. Lucas Giolito will start for the White Sox and Nathan Eovaldi will start for the Red Sox.
