Twins-Angels games on Saturday, Sunday postponed due to COVID-19

The Twins have multiple cases of COVID-19 among their personnel. We break down what’s next.

The Minnesota Twins and Los Angeles Angels will not complete their three-game series this third weekend of April. Following the Angels 10-3 win on Friday, the remaining two games have been postponed due to COVID-19 issues on Minnesota’s roster.

Manager Rocco Baldelli told the media on Saturday that Kyle Garlick, another unnamed Twins player, and a team staff member all tested positive in the two days before the postponements, per ESPN. The team was already without shortstop Andrelton Simmons who tested positive earlier this week.

The Twins are scheduled to travel north to Oakland for a three-game set with the Athletics starting Monday before heading back home. It’s unclear when they will return to action as they go through testing and contact tracing. The team had no positive tests on Saturday, but given the incubation period of COVID-19, that does not mean they are through the outbreak.

The Angels will open a three-game series with Texas on Monday and should have no problems getting that series started.
