The St. Louis Cardinals are looking at an at least two-week suspension of play due to positive Covid-19 tests. The team’s home series against the Pittsburgh Pirates that was scheduled to start on Monday has been postponed due to Covid-19, per reporter Jon Heyman.
The Cardinals had their weekend series with the Chicago Cubs postponed due to multiple positive Covid-19 tests. The team was tested again to close out the weekend, and they have at least one more positive test, according to Heyman.
The Cardinals last played on July 29th, after which a four-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers was postponed. Their following series with the Detroit Tigers was postponed, and they are in a position where they would need to play 55 games in 46 days if they want to complete the 60-game schedule.
St. Louis is currently scheduled to play a doubleheader with the Tigers on Thursday, August 13 before heading to Chicago for a weekend three-game series.
