The Washington Nationals return to the field Saturday evening for their second game of the season, but they will be without Stephen Strasburg on the hill. The World Series MVP has been scratched due to a nerve issue, according to manager Davey Martinez.

Strasburg got a cortisone injection that the team hopes will “calm the nerve down in a few days,” according to David Aldridge. In the meantime, Erick Fedde will get the start in his place. Fedde was recalled two days ago, likely knowing this would potentially be an issue. Last season, Fedde made 12 starts for the Nationals and appeared in 21 total games. He was 4-2 with a 4.50 ERA and a 1.46 WHIP over 78 innings.

The Nationals face James Paxton and the New York Yankees, with first pitch set for 7:10 p.m. ET at Nationals Park. The game will air on FOX.
