UPDATE: The Blue Jays will instead play in Buffalo.
The Toronto Blue Jays have a new option for playing their 2020 home schedule. The team and Major League Baseball have negotiated approval with the Baltimore Orioles to use Camden Yards, according to reporter Jon Heyman. The state of Maryland still needs to sign off.
The Canadian government denied the Blue Jays permission to play the regular season in Toronto because of the amount of travel required to and from the United States. With spikes in areas near MLB teams, the government was not comfortable with the risk factor.
The Blue Jays had a deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates to play at PNC Park, but the Pennsylvania Department of Health denied the team permission. That left the Blue Jays scrambling and considering Buffalo, Baltimore, and even potentially playing entirely on the road this shortened season.
There is plenty still to figure out for the Blue Jays, with hotel accommodations the most significant. The team will be traveling plenty, but they still need a place for players to stay in Baltimore. The team opens with five days of road games before hosting the Washington Nationals on Wednesday, July 29th.
