Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout has spent the past month figuring out his status for MLB’s 60-game season, and on Wednesday he said, “I’m playing,” according to beat writer Fabian Ardaya.
Trout’s wife is pregnant and due in August. The star outfielder said in early July he was not sure of his status for the year. His biggest concern was an outbreak within the team, but he told Ardaya he is encouraged by some of the health and safety protocols the owners and players are implementing.
The Angels have the third best odds in the AL West at DraftKings Sportsbook, but the second most handle behind the Houston Astros. Their win total opened at 31.5, but came off the board while Trout’s status was in doubt. The over and under were evenly priced at -112, but it is unlikely there has been sufficient action to move it when it goes back up.
The Angels open their season on Friday on the road against the Oakland Athletics.
