The Miami Marlins will allow their 40-man roster players to return to their spring training facility on Tuesday, according to Andy Slater of Fox Sports 640. The facility itself will still be closed, but players can use the batting cages and throw off the mound, according to Slater.
Major League Baseball as a whole is still working on bringing back baseball for the season, but we should expect more teams to open up some limited spring training for players in states that allow. Florida and Arizona, the meccas of spring training, are also states that have started opening back up businesses and pushing to get sports started again. Both of these states will likely be central in bringing sports back as a whole in the United States, so will be watched closely by MLB and other major sports entities.
The Marlins will likely be a test case for other teams to learn from as they consider allowing players to return to facilities. The current MLB plan tentatively has the 2020 season starting in July and going 82-games, or half a regular season.
