The Washington Nationals host the Houston Astros for Game 5 of the World Series on Sunday, and in spite of early rain, the game should get going on time.

Light rain got started late during Saturday’s Game 4. It never threatened a delay, but was a fairly steady mist in the last couple innings. The rain picked up overnight and Sunday morning it has turned into a steady down pour. However, the rain is supposed to clear out by around 1:00 p.m. Covering is likely up at Nationals Park for the infield, and there will be about seven hours for the outfield to drain before the 8:07 p.m. first pitch.

The National returned to DC up 2-0 and looking to close things out in front of the hometown fans. However, the Astros offense woke up in a big way, and an unexpected solid outing from Jose Urquidy helped Houston even the series up with back-to-back wins.

The series is now a best of three and the next two days will feature the tops of the rotations. Max Scherzer and Gerrit Cole square off in Game 5 on Sunday at Nationals Park. The series then shifts back to Houston where Stephen Strasburg and Justin Verlander meet in Tuesday’s Game 6. If a Game 7 is necessary, Zack Greinke would start for the Astros and the Nationals would either pitch Anibal Sanchez on normal rest of Scherzer on three-days rest.
