We are used to seeing fights break out during hockey games, but rarely do we see what transpired between Columbus Blue Jackets D Erik Grudbranson and Florida Panthers C Nick Cousins.

Grudbranson took a hit from Cousins that initially was called a major but retracted to a minor. Grudbranson responded by dragging Cousins to the ice and then wailing on him with a flurry of punches. Cousins was basically defenseless and was an unwilling combatant. Grudbranson received a minor penalty, a 10-minute misconduct, a major penalty and a game misconduct in addition to a one-game suspension and a $20,833.33 fine.

Shane O’Brien and Scottie Upshall spend part of the latest episode of Missin Curfew presented by DraftKings Network, discussing the play and the fallout from the fighting. Upshall says that the hit is as dirty as it comes, but overall likes that the NHL is getting more physical.

The hosts also discuss Obie’s playing and scoring in the Avalanche Alumni Game. They recap other sports, talking about the Miami Dolphins’ recent loss, the Shohei Ohtani free agency deal and Jon Rahm agreeing to terms with LIV. They also react to the news that the NHL plans to do their own version of a World Cup featuring four national teams in 2025.
