GoJo and Golic College Football preview: Can Oregon State get its revenge on Washington, Pac-12?

Mike Golic Jr. and Mike Golic Sr. preview the weekend slate on the college gridiron.

Another weekend college football slate awaits, and Mike Golic Jr. and Mike Golic Sr. have you covered with a preview of the action!

Now that we’re entering the home stretch of the season here in late November, GoJo says it’s impossible not to look at these games in terms of the CFP. No. 1 Georgia sits atop the CFP rankings and travels to take on a No. 18 Tennessee team that just got blown out by Missouri. GoJo thinks that Georgia will win this game decidedly as a 10.5-point favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook and he thinks they could wind up covering that line. But, he does say in defense of the Vols that some untimely turnovers sent last week’s game against the Tigers on tilt — it was a one-score game at halftime that got away from the Vols late. He also said this is still a team that is everything that could give Georgia issues as a team that features a pretty strong SEC rushing attack.

Senior agrees and says Tennessee simply can’t make those same mistakes again this week against Georgia. He says you could have the best game plan in the world, but if you give the better team opportunities you’re going to lose and you’re probably going to lose big. He says the best thing that happened in last week’s Georgia game was Brock Bowers coming back. To have him back, to have him get going again and get back in game shape heading into a potential CFP run is monstrous, Senior says. He thinks Georgia wins this game and covers as they are on a roll right now and the Tennessee passing game has taken a step back with Joe Milton under center.

GoJo points out that Georgia is trying to become the first team in conference history to go 8-0 in the SEC for three straight years.

Moving on to some Pac-12 action, and GoJo points out that Oregon State, one of two teams left out in the cold with all the other squads abandoning the “Conference of Champions” has a chance to absolutely WRECK the Pac-12’s CFP hopes, starting with a home showdown with No. 5 Washington. GoJo also points out that Corvallis is a place where some strange things can happen, so is Senior nervous at all about his preseason pick of Washington to make the CFP heading into this potential danger spot?

Actually yes, he is. Senior notes that these are two high-flying offenses. he notes that Oregon State runs the ball well and Washington has not been playing great defensively of late. So, the defensive side of the ball for Washington worries Senior. Also, he wonders if you’re in a shootout and need those drives at the end, at some point does your luck run out? If you’re living on a wing and a prayer it doesn’t always work out and it only takes one time for you to get your playoff hopes dashed. Senior is still going Washington, as he made them his early playoff pick, despite their defensive struggles but it’s sobering to see the No. 5-ranked team as an underdog on DraftKings Sportsbook.

GoJo is going the other direction, however, leaning toward Oregon State. He thinks Washington has been living on the edge for a while and this Oregon State team has great bodies up front and can ground and pound while still being able to make some throws. Tie in the fact this game is in Corvallis, and GoJo says he will take Oregon State and we could see the first domino fall in some of the weirdness we look for at the end of college football season.
