Saturday Night NBA DFS features a small slate this weekend. Grab a couple screens and enjoy them all. But first, we need a DraftKings NBA DFS lineup to fully enjoy Saturday’s fantasy basketball action. Let’s dig into some research and make some picks, as we gear up for the four-game main slate that starts at 7 p.m. ET.

Jalen Brunson, New York Knicks at Washington Wizards, $8,700 — Minutes and volume are king in NBA DFS. Brunson has both. Pace and matchup are the next stats in line to the throne. On Saturday night, Brunson has those, too. The Knicks are playing the Wizards. It doesn’t get any better than this. Washington plays at the second-fastest pace in the NBA (105.9), and they have the worst defense (119.0 Defensive Efficiency Rating).

Cam Whitmore, Houston Rockets vs. Milwaukee Bucks, $3,600 — This is a GPP dart throw. It’s not easy to differentiate lineups on four-game slates. Risks must be taken and this NBA DFS value pick carries plenty of risk. The Rockets are loaded with young talent. Their rotation is not easy to predict. The 20th pick in the 2023 NBA Draft has not played much this season, but he is finally working his way into the rotation. On Wednesday, he played 16.5 minutes and scored 11 points (three 3-pointers). He also added two steals, two rebounds and an assist. If Whitmore gets on the floor more, then he could be a sneaky NBA DFS value pick in a paced-up game.

Donte DiVincenzo, New York Knicks at Washington Wizards, $5,400 — Most NBA players never become stars. They don’t make it, they live on the bench or they become role players. DiVincenzo is developing into one of the best role players in the NBA. He averages around 20 minutes with the second unit and regularly reaches double-digit points along with several peripheral stats. On a larger slate, the former Villanova star is a reach. On a four gamer, he’s in play. In a match up with the Wizards, he moves to the top of the value board.

Fred VanVleet, Houston Rockets vs. Milwaukee Bucks, $8,200 — The Rockets could be short-handed on Saturday. Dillon Brooks ($5,200) is out and Tari Eason ($6,100) might not play. Even if these injuries do not increase VanVleet’s volume, the Bucks will. Given the always changing data, the Bucks are the fastest team in the NBA. VanVleet’s volume will increase in a home matchup against an average defense.

Simone Fontecchio, Utah Jazz at Philadelphia 76ers, $5,300 — The Jazz got blown out by Boston on Friday. Fontecchio only played 25 minutes in the challenging matchup. In the three games prior, Fontecchio started and averaged over 30 minutes of action. He scored 30, 42 and 36 DKFP in those contests. It’s a small sample size, but a larger sample size would result in a higher salary. That’s how NBA DFS works.

Nicholas Batum, Philadelphia 76ers vs. Utah Jazz, $4,300 — At the time of publish, there are not many NBA DFS value picks on the board. That’s normally the case Saturday morning and afternoon. If someone sits, then minutes will open up for a cheap option. For now, Batum is the biggest beneficiary. Tobias Harris ($6,900) left Friday’s blowout loss early with an ankle injury. This could mean more minutes for Batum. The 35-year-old Frenchman has not been a usage rate hog, but 30 minutes at his price is fine on a four-game slate.

Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers vs. Utah Jazz, $11,500 — This four-game slate is not jam packed with stars. Embiid is at the top of the list. The 76ers got blown out on Friday, but Embiid still logged his normal minutes and kept his 30 points and 10 rebounds streak alive. Look for Embiid to bounce back on the back-to-back and carry — more than he already does if that’s possible — the slightly short-handed 76ers on Saturday in a soft situation.

Alperen Sengun, Houston Rockets vs. Milwaukee Bucks, $8,600 — The 76ers could win big and easy, and that could limit Embiid’s ceiling. It could also be a blowout because of his ceiling. Sengun is the cheaper pivot on the four gamer. In five of the last seven games, Sengun has scored at least 47 DKFP. The Bucks are a middle of the road defense and play at one of the fastest paces in the NBA. This is a great spot for the Rockets on Saturday.

Isaiah Hartenstein, New York Knicks vs. Washington Wizards, $5,800 — DFS NBA can be maddening. Rotations and minutes change on a nightly basis. One thing that never changes, a DFS constant: Tom Thibodeau runs his starters into the ground. In Minnesota and now in New York, Thibs minute allocations are as predictable as the sun rising in the East and setting in the West. Hartenstein will get minutes. His usage isn’t great, but he makes up for it with rebounds. On Wednesday, Hartenstein played 37 minutes and scored 10 points. He’s not a usage monster, but he matters in DFS because he grabbed 20 rebounds and blocked five shots in those 37 minutes.
