Fantasy Basketball Picks Today: Top DraftKings NBA DFS Targets, Values for December 22

Stan Son gives his top studs and value plays at each position for Friday’s fantasy basketball slate on DraftKings.

NBA: Dallas Mavericks at Portland Trail Blazers Jaime Valdez-USA TODAY Sports

It’s Friday. We don’t got no job, we don’t... I kid, I kid. We have six games on tonight’s slate. Luka Doncic, Dante Exum and Dereck Lively II are out for the Mavs, so Dallas will be the primary source of value as of now. Jimmy Butler and Jusuf Nurkic are out as well. De’Anthony Melton ($5,600), Malik Monk ($6,000) and Brandin Podziemski ($6,200) are the notable players who are questionable. Keep track of all the pertinent updates at DK Live.

As for back-to-backs, only WAS played last night. ATL, BKN, DAL, DEN, GS, HOU, SAC and TOR play tomorrow.

DraftKings Sportsbook has two games with a total of at least 240 - WAS/GS (246) and PHO/SAC (243). There is one double-digit favorite - GS -12 over WAS. There is one game within 2 points - MIA -1.5 over ATL. There is one home dog - BKN.

Tim Hardaway Jr., Dallas Mavericks at Houston Rockets ($6,100) – Hardaway has been the microwave off the bench for the Mavericks this season. With no Luka, Kyrie or Exum, that’s a massive offensive void, which I’m sure Hardaway will be more than happy to fill. When he’s on the court, he’s hucking and chucking. Sometimes the bricks crumble the house down, but he has the capacity to get scorching hot. The usage rate is often in the high-20 percent range and he has eight games with at least 20 points, two of those over 30. He has 40-DKFP upside. Whether he gets there is the question, especially since the Rockets are a very good defensive team, but the playing time and expected usage are too much to ignore. The ownership could be high so it comes down to roster construction and available pivots.

Other Options - Devin Booker ($10,000), Trae Young ($9,900), Tyler Herro ($8,400), Bogdan Bogdanovic ($6,600), Chris Paul ($6,500)

Jaden Hardy, Dallas Mavericks at Houston Rockets ($4,300) – They should rename this piece “Top Dallas NBA DFS Targets, Values”. With Luka and Exum out, Hardy should see a significant amount of minutes, possibly even starting. The matchup isn’t the greatest, as the Rockets are second in defensive efficiency but minutes are half the battle. Yo, Joe! Hardy is averaging 0.92 DKFP per minute and has garnered a usage rate in the mid-to-high 20 percent range when on the court this season. The ownership will likely be high, so it comes down to roster construction and available pivots.

Other Options - Grayson Allen ($5,400), Seth Curry ($3,700)

Kevin Durant, Phoenix Suns at Sacramento Kings ($9,700) – Durant is one of the best, most consistent fantasy producers in the game. His ability to get his shot off against anyone and contribute across the board on a nightly basis is matched by few. He’s scored at least 40 DKFP in every game but the opener with 10 of those over 50 and a high of 72. This game has a healthy total of 243.5 and the Kings are 10th in pace while being 22nd in defensive efficiency. Durant could also see an uptick in usage rate with Jusuf Nurkic out, as Nurkic was garnering a 20% usage rate.

Other Options - Scottie Barnes ($8,800), Klay Thompson ($6,900)

Trayce Jackson-Davis, Golden State Warriors vs. Washington Wizards ($4,600) – It took time for Jackson-Davis to enter the rotation, as he was playing in the single digits for much of the season. Over the last two games, though, the genie has emerged from the bottle, as TJD has played 18 and 29 minutes, producing 33.5 and 34.75 DKFP. Now he gets a fantasy matchup against the Wizards who are second in pace, 29th in defensive efficiency and have boosted the FPPM to opposing centers by a league-leading 28.55%.

Other Options - Jonathan Kuminga ($5,600), Andrew Wiggins ($5,500), Derrick Jones Jr. ($5,300), Grant Williams ($4,700), Peyton Watson ($4,200)

Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers vs. Toronto Raptors ($11,200) – No need to get cute here. Embiid has exceeded point expectations 100% of the time this season, producing in blowouts, close games, against double-teams, triple-teams, rain, shine, in sickness and in health. Over the last 12 games, Embiid has put up at least 60 DKFP in all with five over 70. Three of those 70-burgers have come in the three most recent contests. If the ownership gets too high, though, there’s obvious merit in fading him, especially since Jokic is on the slate as well. Anything can happen on any given night.

Other Options - Nikola Jokic ($11,000), Domantas Sabonis ($9,400), Alperen Sengun ($8,300), Daniel Gafford ($6,000)

Drew Eubanks, Phoenix Suns at Sacramento Kings ($4,500) – With Nurkic out, Eubanks should get the start and soak up most of the center minutes. He’s a low-usage player but very active, contributing in the defensive categories. He crashes the glass and is a viable roll threat. On the season, he’s averaging 0.94 DKFP per minute and has some experience starting. Last season, he started 28 games for Portland and went for at least 20 DKFP 21 times with six of those over 30 and a high of 48.75.

Other Options - Onyeka Okongwu ($5,500), Dwight Powell ($4,400)
