Fantasy Formula 1 closes out the 2023 season — the second season of DFS F1 at DraftKings — this Sunday morning at Abu Dhabi. Draftkings is celebrating year two by presenting a large fantasy racing contest that pays $10K to first place.

The DraftKings Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2023 slate locks at 8 a.m. ET on Sunday.

1. Max Verstappen ($17,000) — The traditional stats are clear. Verstappen has won nearly every race this season. The DFS F1 stats are a little less clear, but one stat is obvious. Verstappen is too expensive for the Captain’s Spot and sometimes he’s too expensive to flex (e.g. Las Vegas Grand Prix).

2. Sergio Perez ($8,400) — Red Bull came up short on the last lap at Las Vegas. The street circuit superstar failed to secure the second step in Sin City, but he did climb onto the podium.

3. Lando Norris ($9,400) — Someone was bound to wreck at the Sin City street circuit. Lando’s top-5 finish streak (six races) came to an end in the American desert. Now, it’s off to another desert to start a new streak.

4. Lewis Hamilton ($9,800) — The 2023 season has been a solid bounce-back season for Hamilton and Mercedes. That being said, they’re still nowhere close to Red Bull and in a dog fight with Ferrari.

5. Charles Leclerc ($8,800) — Mercedes finished outside of the top 5 in the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Leclerc was the runner-up. The gap between second and third in the Constructors’ Championship is small. It all comes down to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

6. Carlos Sainz ($8,000) — All signs point to Sainz leading Ferrari to second-place in the Constructors Championship (this is season two and the first time that phrase has appeared). Ferrari needs four points. Sainz did his part by finishing sixth in the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

7. Fernando Alonso ($7,400) — He got old fast. No, that’s not the case. Aston Martin had a developmental edge to start the 2023 season. When the advantage vanished, Alonso tumbled down the standings.

8. Esteban Ocon ($5,000) — It’s been and on-again-off-again relationship with Ocon this season in DFS F1. When he finishes, he finishes inside the top 10. The problem is that he has too many retirements in 2023. That wasn’t the case last week, Ocon finished fourth in the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

9. Alex Albon ($4,400) — Williams took a giant step forward in 2023. Albon scored seven top-10 finishes. He was in the optimal DFS F1 lineup seven times. His teammate, Logan Sargeant ($3,000), was in four optimal fantasy Formula 1 lineups this season at DraftKings.

10. Lance Stroll ($4,800) — Earlier this fall, fans and the F1 media were sharply critical of Stroll’s performance and poise. Now, the critics are quiet. Stroll has earned back-to-back top-5 finishes and has finished seventh or better in three of the last four races.
