The Houston Texans got some help and were able to win the AFC South division title and the No. 4 seed into the AFC playoffs. The Texans and rookie QB CJ Stroud will go on to face the No. 5 seeded Cleveland Browns and Joe Flacco in the Wild Card Round of the AFC playoffs.

Here’s a look at the opening odds of this matchup between the Texans and Browns in the first round of the 2024 NFL Playoffs. Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.

Texans vs. Browns odds

Update, 1/8

Point spread: Browns -2.5
Point total: 44
Moneyline: CLE -135, HOU +114

Point spread: Browns -2
Point total: 44.5
Moneyline: CLE -130, HOU +110

The Browns are road favorites in the first round of the playoffs. Houston was blown out by Cleveland earlier in the season but that was while Stroud was out due to a concussion. The Browns rested starters in Week 18 while the Texans had to beat the Colts and get a Jags loss in order to win the division and get the home game. The Browns should be favored however with a better record and stout defense. Flacco has lifted the offense and passing game led by Amari Cooper. Jerome Ford has stepped up all season with RB Nick Chubb sidelined. The initial reaction would be to get on the Browns on the spread.
