The Memphis Grizzlies (11-23) and Los Angeles Lakers (17-18) will meet in a rematch of last year’s first-round playoff series Friday, with both teams attempting to rediscover their form. The Grizzlies won the first four games Ja Morant returned for but have lost three of the last four. The Lakers are on a three-game losing streak and reports are emerging about a disconnect between the players and head coach Darvin Ham. This is the second meeting between these teams this season, but Morant didn’t play in LA’s 134-107 win.
Steven Adams, Brandon Clarke and Derrick Rose remain out for Memphis. Gabe Vincent and Rui Hachimura are out for the Lakers, while D’Angelo Russell is doubtful. LeBron James is questionable and Anthony Davis is probable, but both should be good to go.
The Lakers are 4-point favorites according to DraftKings Sportsbook, and the total sits at 227. Los Angeles is -175 on the moneyline while Memphis is +145.
Grizzlies vs. Lakers, 10 p.m. ET
Pick ATS: Lakers -4
Things are not good in Lakerland right now, with the team seemingly at a crossroads for the season. The Lakers have four more home games to try to get right and fortunately for them, they’ve been really good at Crypto.com Arena. LA is 11-5 straight up and this is an opponent this team should be able to beat. The Grizzlies have returned to Earth after Morant’s return, and are still depleted on the interior where the Lakers can make them pay. I like Los Angeles to quiet some of the noise with a win and cover tonight.
Over/Under: Under 227
The Lakers are 5-10 to the over this season at home, and that’s largely due to their huge improvement defensively whenever they play at home. The Grizzlies are 9-9 to the over as the road team, but they’ve gone over their totals just three times since Morant’s return. I like the under to hit in this contest.
