With just two games on Thursday’s NBA slate, those participating in DFS will have to get creative when building their lineups and finding value plays. Unlike NFL DFS, where one pick can make or break your lineup or it’s tough to find quality low-tier value, NBA DFS differs.
In NBA DFS, you can find quality value plays $5K or under that can give you a quick 10 points off the bench, grab some rebounds, or stuff the stat sheet. We are going to provide you with three players that you need to put in your lineup.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Nuggets, $5,000
The price point is a bit higher than some might like, but Caldwell-Pope has the most upside of any of the value plays on this slate. He’s got a solid floor, averaging 20.8 DFKP per game this season, and just went for 34.5 DKFP against the Warriors on Christmas Day. Golden State is 19th in fantasy points allowed to opposing shooting guards, so this is a good matchup to roster KCP for.
Dario Saric, Warriors, $4,100
Despite a dud in the last game, Saric has been playing well for Golden State. The combo forward was averaging 20.03 DKFP per game over six contests before putting up just 6.3 DKFP against the Magic. The minutes have been consistent since Draymond Green’s suspension, so playing time won’t be the issue. Saric is worth taking a flier on at this price point.
Cameron Payne, Bucks, $3,800
Payne isn’t going to put up big numbers for the Bucks, but this is a special case. Milwaukee is on the second night of a back-to-back set and could manage the minutes of some stars, so that’s reason to think Payne could get some more time. The Bucks might also blow out the Spurs quickly, leading to Payne getting run in garbage time. Either way, the point guard should be roster at under $4k.
