The unified light heavyweight clash boxing fans have been waiting for is finally here, as three-belt champion Artur Beterbiev and former super middleweight standout Callum Smith will meet this Saturday, January 13. ESPN+ will have coverage of the main card starting at 10 p.m. ET. live from the Videotron Center in Quebec City, Canada.

Beterbiev (19-0, 19 KOs) enters with an effective 100% KO rate and seems primed to defend his IBF, WBC, and WBO light heavyweight belts. The 38-year-old out of Russia is coming off his first successful unified title defense, an eight-round KO win over Anthony Yarde last January. Before that victory, he stopped former WBO light heavyweight champion Joe Smith Jr. in the second round.

Smith (29-1, 21 KOs) has promised to deliver a knockout of his own in this bout. This will be his first fight since August 2022, when he defeated Mathieu Bauderlique by fourth-round KO. The 33-year-old was once WBC super middleweight champion and went toe-to-toe with Canelo Alvarez in 2020, losing by unanimous decision.

Beterbiev is the favorite with -450 betting odds to win and Smith is a +320 underdog. The favored method of victory is Betebiev by KO (-220), according to DraftKings Sportsbook.

Artur Beterbiev vs. Callum Smith round-by-round results

Round 1: Beterbiev 10-9

Beterbiev unleashes some combinations very early and Smith trends backward to the ropes. Smith now pressing forward with punches of his own. Counter left stops Smith in his tracks. A short right and left to end round for Beterbiev.

Round 2: Beterbiev 10-9 (Beterbiev 20-18)

Smith aims a right hook that is blocked by Beterbiev. Strong right hand connects to the body for Beterbiev and Smith felt it. Left hook from Smith as he has settled in a lot better this round.

Round 3: Beterbiev 10-9 (Beterbiev 30-27)

Beterbiev snaps back the head of Smith with a nice left hand. Smith trying a ton of different punches but none land. Another swift right to the body lands for Beterbiev. Double jab from the champion and Smith’s confidence suddenly waning. Right hand lands upstairs and noticeable swell near the right eye of the challenger. Beterbiev is cruising.

Round 4: Beterbiev 10-9 (Beterbiev 40-36)

Beterbiev continuing to stalk Smith and walk him down. Left hook to the body lands for the champion. Beterbied pouring it on and Smith taking punch after punch. Smith looks dazed and Beterbiev could close it earlier than expected. Smith fires back an uppercut.

Round 5: Beterbiev 10-9 (Beterbiev 50-45)

Beterbiev content with taking one round off. Smith trying to get some sort of momentum, but not landing anything clean. Left jab from Beterbiev connects. Smith even in a round of slower pace from the champion, seems to not have as much power.

Round 6: Beterbiev 10-9 (Beterbiev 60-54)

Lead right hand stuns Smith and he’s now back in the corner. Smith goes back with a left hook, but the champion doesn’t see fazed. Late combination from Beterbiev. Smith showing some signs but also has considerable swelling near both eyes.

Round 7: Beterbiev KO

Right counter stuns Smith and he trips over his feet. Another power punch and Smith goes down. Smith beats the count, but here comes Beterbiev for the finish! Left hand, right hand, Beterbiev landing at ease. Smith DROPS for a second time and his corner has seen enough! Beterbiev makes it 20 for 20, and retains light heavyweight unified status in tremendous fashion.
