The Los Angeles Rams will go on the road to take on the Detroit Lions in the Wild Card round of the 2024 NFL Playoffs. The main story of the game is quarterback Matthew Stafford making his way back to Detroit, where he spent the start of his career. Los Angeles heads into the game banged up as tight end Tyler Higbee is dealing with a shoulder injury.

Higbee has played in 15 games this season. He has brought in 47 of his 70 targets for 495 yards and two touchdowns. It felt like the veteran was in for a big season, but the emergence of rookie wide receiver Puka Nacua kind of forced Higbee to the backseat as far as target options in the offense.

Tyler Higbee injury updates

Friday update: Rams head coach Sean McVay told reporters on Friday that Higbee will be listed as questionable for Sunday’s matchup vs. the Lions. Higbee has been able to practice in some capacity this week, which is a good sign that he’ll be able to play.

Either way, Higbee’s status isn’t all that impactful. At least not in terms of fantasy football. The Rams will still operate with Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua and Demarcus Robinson as the top-3 receivers, plus a healthy dose of RB Kyren Williams. If Higbee does end being ruled out, Davis Allen would be the primary tight end. He played 75% of the snaps in Week 18 vs. the 49ers with starters mostly sitting.

Wednesday update: Higbee was limited in practice on Wednesday. The Rams don’t play until Sunday, though, so he will have two more days of practice to get back to the field.
