The Boise State Broncos and San Diego State Aztecs enter Friday’s clash in San Diego tied atop of the Mountain West standings at 8-2 looking for both sole possession of the first place spot and a big win on their resumes.

Boise State Broncos and San Diego State Aztecs (-6.5, 134)

Typically, San Diego State is the team with the more efficient defense, but Boise State ranks eighth in the nation in points allowed on a per-possession basis and sixth when playing on the road.

The secret to Boise State’s stout defense is cutting off shots beyond the 3-point arc, ranking fifth in opponent 3-point shooting percentage at 27.5%. San Diego State allows its opponents to make 30.7% of their 3-point shots, good for 41st in the nation.

The Broncos will look to bust through the defense with their outside shooting, knocking down 36.7% of their 3-point attempts, good for 46th in the nation. The Aztecs make 34.9% of their 3-point attempts, good for 125th in the nation.

Boise State’s defense has also excelled in preventing opponents from getting second chances on their missed shots. The Broncos rank fifth among 363 Division I teams in defensive rebound rate, allowing opposing offensive rebounds just 20.3% of the time.

Boise State has made bettors plenty of cash in the underdog role, going 7-0-1 against the spread and with the way they match up against San Diego State, the Broncos will give backers another ride to the window.

The Play: Boise State +6.5
