Live results: Haney defeats Prograis by way of unanimous decision (120-107, 120-107, 120-107) and is the new WBC super lightweight champion
Former undisputed lightweight champion of the world Devin Haney makes his debut at 140 pounds as he challenges Regis Prograis for the WBC super lightweight title. The championship fight is scheduled for 12 rounds and will take place at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California, this Saturday, December 9. Coverage begins at 8 p.m. ET on DAZN.
Haney (30-0, 15 KOs) is coming off an impressive unanimous decision win over Vasiliy Lomachenko in which he retained undisputed status at 135 pounds. “The Dream” has ascended into a superstar and at 25 now has the opportunity to be a two-division champion. ESPN currently lists Haney as the best active lightweight in the sport.
Prograis (29-1, 24 KOs) is one of the more elusive fighters at 140 pounds. He delivered an 11th-round KO of Jose Zepeda last November, securing the then-vacant WBC super lightweight title. In his most recent bout, he outlasted Daniel Zorrilla and escaped with a split-decision win. His lone loss came at the hands of Josh Taylor back in 2019.
Haney comes into the bout as the betting favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook. He is a -400 favorite while Prograis is a +300 underdog.
Tune in this Saturday for live round-by-round results and the eventual winner as we’ll be tracking the action below!
