Friday Night Smackdown returns to your screens tonight with a new episode coming live from the Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence, RI.

Tonight will be the company’s annual Tribute to the Troops episode, a December tradition they’ve been doing since 2003. There are a lot of important things happening on tonight’s show, including finding out if another recently returned superstar will sign with Smackdown.

How to watch Friday Night Smackdown

Date: Friday, December 8
Time: 8 p.m. ET
Location: Amica Mutual Pavilion, Providence, RI
Network: Fox
Live stream: Fox Live

What to watch for on Friday Night Smackdown

  • CM Punk will make his first appearance on Smackdown in almost exactly one decade tonight, where he will make a decision over which brand to sign with. After Randy Orton signed with Smackdown last Friday, Raw general manager Adam Pearce announced on Monday that he intends to offer the “Best in the World” a contract to his show. We’ll see where Punk leans.
  • As just mentioned, Orton made his return to Smackdown last week to make his decision, but was immediately interrupted by Paul Heyman. Jey Uso and Solo Sikoa then jumped the Viper before L.A. Knight came out to even the odds. Orton then announced that he’s signing with Smackdown because he’s coming after Roman Reigns. Tonight, Orton/Knight will face Uso/Sikoa in a tag team match.
  • Logan Paul appeared on last week’s show to announce a tournament to determine the No. 1 contender for his United States Championship. The first two matches of that tourney will take place tonight as Dragon Lee will face Santos Escobar and Bobby Lashley will face Karrion Kross.
  • Charlotte Flair will go one-on-one with Asuka.

Predictions for tonight’s episode

  • Punk ends up signing with Raw and they continue to lay the seeds for an inevitable clash with Seth Rollins.
  • Orton/Knight vs. Jey/Sikoa ends in some type of DQ finish to avoid any one in the match taking a pinfall. Related, we’ll get an announcement for when Roman Reigns will return to confront Orton.
  • Lashley squashes Kross in one of the semifinal matches. I’ll predict Escobar gets the win in the other match because you don’t want him eating a loss this early into his run. I think Escobar will also appear at NXT Deadline tomorrow to cost Lee his North American title match against Dominik Mysterio.
  • Asuka beats Charlotte Flair with the help of Bayley, who is now in a position of trying to prove herself to her Damage CTRL teammates.
