The Pittsburgh Steelers take on the New England Patriots in Week 14 on Thursday Night Football. The Steelers are coming off a loss against the Arizona Cardinals, and quarterback Kenny Pickett is expected to be out for several weeks after undergoing ankle surgery. Mitch Trubisky will be starting in his place. Should you start Pat Freiermuth at tight end on your fantasy roster this week? Here’s our breakdown.
Fantasy Football analysis: Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth
Freiermuth had a huge Week 12 with 120 receiving yards, but has largely been lower on the scale for fantasy earnings this season. He has just 209 total receiving yards in 2023.
Start or sit in Week 14 PPR leagues?
Freiermuth had a huge Week 12, but slipped back down to his regularly scheduled low fantasy earnings in Week 13. He had just three receptions for 29 yards. If you’re in a larger league and digging for a TE, he’s certainly not the worst option, but if you have other TEs on the roster to start this week, I’d sit Freiermuth. He is also catching passes from a backup QB, which can make things unpredictable.
Start or sit in Week 14 standard leagues?
Again, Freiermuth has not shown the kind of consistency necessary to give him the benefit of the doubt this upcoming week. I would avoid starting him in smaller leagues.
Players you would start ahead of Pat Freiermuth
The Chargers’ Gerald Everett is a good alternative to Freiermuth this week. Check out the Titans’ Chigoziem Okonkwo, as well, who has seen consistent targets from Will Levis.
