The New England Patriots are coming off of a tough 6-0 loss to the Chargers in Week 13 as they prepare to face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday in Week 14. Should you start running back Ezekiel Elliott in fantasy football this week? Let’s take a look.
Fantasy Football analysis: Patriots RB Ezekiel Elliott
Ezekiel Elliott has largely worked in an RB2 capacity for the Patriots, playing behind Rhamondre Stevenson, but he has still been a decent — if somewhat inconsistent — fantasy earner this season. Stevenson sustained an ankle injury in Week 13 that is expected to keep him sidelined for several weeks.
Start or sit in Week 14 PPR leagues?
Elliott isn’t a necessary start in smaller leagues, but with Rhamondre Stevenson dealing with an ankle sprain heading into Week 14, we can expect to see Elliott receive a larger share of the backfield load. Elliott has already been worked in quite frequently, and finished Week 13 with 17 carries for 52 yards and four receptions for 40 yards.
Start or sit in Week 14 standard leagues?
Again, with Stevenson injured, we can expect to see Elliott take on a non-compete RB1 role this week against the Steelers.
Player you would start ahead of Ezekiel Elliott
Elliott is one of the better RBs to start at his level this week. The Bears’ Roschon Johnson could work in a similar capacity against the Lions, but if you’re looking for a FLEX option to take over for an injured RB or someone on bye this week, Elliott is going to be a solid option.
