If you were excited about the rise of Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride, great news: he is on bye this week. You might be returning to the drawing board for a tight end, but this season has been all over the place. Last week Sam LaPorta, McBride, Evan Engram, Jake Ferguson and Taysom Hill led the tight ends in half-PPR scoring.
Here are the tight ends with the best fantasy football matchups in Week 14.
Fantasy football, Week 14: Best TE Matchups
Gerald Everett vs. Denver Broncos
Everett is a talented tight end and should be in a good situation with Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers. It hasn’t panned out, though, as he heads into Week 14 as the overall TE23 in half-PPR scoring. Everett has played in 10 games and has tallied 254 yards and three touchdowns on 29 receptions.
The Denver defense allows the most fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends. This will be his first matchup against this defense this season. The Broncos faced the Houston Texans last week, and while starting tight end Dalton Schultz was sidelined, the backup Brevin Jordan brought in three of his five targets for 63 yards.
Kylen Granson vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Granson finished as the TE8 last week. He brought in all three of his targets for 72 yards, which has been his best overall output. On the year, he has played in 10 games and has 247 yards and a touchdown on 20 receptions. Granson usually falls behind Michael Pittman, Josh Downs and Alec Pierce for targets from quarterback Gardner Minshew.
Cincinnati allows the second-most fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends. Tight end Evan Engram had one of his best games of the season against their defense in Week 13. He brought in all nine of his targets for 82 yards and a touchdown. Granson is a risky play, but he at least has a great matchup this week if you’re in a pinch.
Isaiah Likely vs. Los Angeles Rams
The Baltimore Ravens are coming off their bye week. That provided another week for the Ravens to get tight end Isaiah Likely up to speed as the starting tight end following Mark Andrews’ season-ending injury he suffered in Week 11. Likely has played one full game without Andrews and finished with 40 yards on four receptions.
The Los Angeles defense is allowing the third-most fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends. It may have been the Rams’ defense or Joe Flacco under center, but Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku finished with 17 yards on two receptions. Likely was a popular waiver wire add in Week 12, and has a great matchup to prove himself in Week 14.
