Kickers to add for the 2023 fantasy football playoffs

We take a look at some good kicker matchups for the fantasy football playoffs.

Getting kickers right for fantasy is always tough and when the stakes are higher, like the fantasy football playoffs, we really have to hunker down and figure out the best moves to make. This is also the time of year we want to avoid bad weather at all costs. So, if your kicker has an outdoor game up north, it’s time to look for possible alternatives.

Below, we’ll go through the next four weeks and look at some good matchups with teams rostered less than 60% on Yahoo.

Week 14

Jake Moody vs. Seattle Seahawks (8th-worst vs. K)
Daniel Carlson vs. Minnesota Vikings (7th-worst vs. K)

Week 15

Jake Moody at Arizona Cardinals (12th-worst vs. K)
Chris Boswell at Indianapolis Colts (4th-worst vs. K)
Ka’imi Fairbairn at Tennessee Titans (Worst vs. K)

Week 16

Younghoe Koo vs. Indianapolis Colts (4th-worst vs. K)
Riley Patterson at Minnesota Vikings (7th-worst vs. K)
Jason Myers at Tennessee Titans (Worst vs. K)
Will Lutz vs. New England Patriots (11th-worst vs. K)
Matt Gay at Atlanta Falcons (5th-worst vs. K)

Week 17

Daniel Carlson at Indianapolis Colts (4th-worst vs. K)
Chris Boswell at Seattle Seahawks (8th-worst vs. K)
Matt Gay vs. Las Vegas Raiders (14th-worst vs. K)
Ka’imi Fairbairn at Tennessee Titans (Worst vs. K)

Fantasy football playoffs kicker targets

Update: Fairbairn has been added to the 53-man roster and will kick in Week 15.

Ka’imi Fairbairn is currently on I.R., but is will either be activated for Week 14 or Week 15 and the Texans are in the playoff hunt and have been great offensively. Unfortunately, Week 14 for the Texans is in New Jersey against the Jets in bad weather. That could keep them from activating him anyway, but either way, you don’t want him this week.

The good news is that he faces the Titans twice, who have allowed the most fantasy points to kickers in the league. In between those Titans games he’ll face the Browns, which isn’t a great matchup, but it is in Houston, where the weather should be okay.

Jake Moody hasn’t been putting up the numbers we’d hope for the kicker on such a good offense, but he gets two nice matchups in Week 14 and 15 against the Seahawks at home and Cardinals on the road. He then will get a tougher matchup against the Ravens in Week 16, but it will be at home. Week 17 is a great matchup with the Commanders, but it will be on the road and weather could be an issue. If the weather looks okay by the time we get to that game, it’s one you would likely want to start him in as the Commanders have allowed the second-most fantasy points to kickers this season.

The Colts are firmly in the playoff hunt and their kicker Matt Gay will get some good matchups in the fantasy playoffs. Week 14 looks like the toughest, as there is some risk for rain and wind in Cincinnati. But, by the time we get to that game, there’s a real chance the weather ends up not being a big factor. Plus, the Bengals have given up the 10th-most fantasy points to kickers this season. Gay will then be at home in the dome against the Steelers, who are middle of the road against kickers, then in the dome at Atlanta, then back to the home dome agianst the Raiders for Week 17.
