The New Orleans Saints (8-8) hit the road on Sunday and spoiled the “t-shirt and hat” day for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-8), shutting them down in a 23-13 victory. The Saints jumped out to a 17-0 lead in the first half and didn’t need much else as the Bucs offense sputtered the entire afternoon.

Tampa Bay could’ve officially clinched the NFC South with a win, but will now have to wait another week. The Bucs still control their own destiny and can clinch the division title with a victory over the Carolina Panthers in their season finale next Sunday.

With the win, New Orleans kept its playoff chances alive and staved off elimination for another week. The Saints can clinch the NFC South with a victory over the Atlanta Falcons next Sunday and a Bucs loss to the Panthers.

With today’s result, Atlanta is also still alive in the division race. Similar to the Saints, the Falcons would need a win and a Bucs loss next week to clinch.
