The Los Angeles Rams head into Week 17 with the best position in the NFC to clinch one of the two remaining wild card berths. However, at 8-7, they will need a win and some help to do so.
The Rams are traveling to face the New York Giants on Sunday and are a 5.5-point favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook. The Rams are on a roll having won five of six after opening the season with a 3-6 record. They’re tied with the Seahawks and sit a game ahead of the Vikings, Falcons, Packers, and Saints in the wild card standings. They would clinch with a win and a Seahawks loss or a win and a Packers-Vikings tie.
Here’s a look at the full slate of NFC games Seahawks fans should note on Sunday.
Result: The Rams beat the Giants, holding them off 26-25. The Seahawks loss in the 4 p.m. window means LA has clinched a wild card berth.
Steelers vs. Seahawks
Result: The Seahawks lost to the Steelers.
Seattle is a 3.5-point favorite at home against Pittsburgh. The Steelers are in a bit of turmoil at the quarterback position as Mason Rudolph impressed last week against the Bengals, while Kenny Pickett is close to healthy. It’s an easy rooting interest, but will take betting upset to happen.
Packers vs. Vikings
The Vikings are a 1.5-point favorite in this game while DraftKings Sportsbook has set a tie at +7000. That’s an implied probability of 1.41%. Since one team is likely to win this game, Seahawks fans should probably root for the Vikings. The Rams did not play the Vikings, but did play and lose to the Packers. LA and Minnesota are tied in the conference record tiebreaker.
Falcons vs. Bears
Saints vs. Buccaneers
Result: The Bears beat the Falcons and the Saints beat the Bucs.
The Rams don’t need help from the NFC South to clinch a playoff berth, but it wouldn’t hurt. Seahawks fans should be rooting for the Bears and Bucs to officially eliminate the Falcons and Saints from playoff contention. The Bears are a field goal favorite while the Bucs are a 2.5-point favorite.
