The 2023-24 College Football Playoff is set and the second semifinal matchup will feature the No. 2 Washington Huskies facing the No. 3 Texas Longhorns in New Orleans, Louisiana at the Sugar Bowl on Monday, January 1. The game will kick off at 8:45 p.m. ET and will air on ESPN.

Washington (13-0) had a perfect season and capped it with a win over rival Oregon on Friday to become the final Pac-12 champion. The Huskies were led by Heisman Trophy candidate Michael Penix Jr., who was aided by several dangerous weapons like Rome Odunze, Ja’Lynn Polk, and Dillon Johnson.

Texas (12-1) was picked as the preseason Big 12 favorite and lived up to those expectations in its final season in the league. The Longhorns’ signature victory came on the road against fellow playoff team Alabama in September and their only blemish was losing to rival Oklahoma in the final minute. They handled their business throughout conference play and steamrolled Oklahoma State in Saturday’s Big 12 title game.
