The Indianapolis Colts announced that star running back Jonathan Taylor will be not be available Sunday against the Tennessee Titans and is likely to miss a couple of weeks after having thumb surgery. It’s a big blow for the Colts (6-5) and their playoff hopes, but it’s also a big blow for fantasy players that might need Taylor to help them secure a playoff bid or advance to the next round.
Taylor’s injury comes at a time he has strung together a couple of good games in a row. Last week he had 15 carries for 91 yards and two touchdowns against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and has found the end zone three times in the past two games.
Fantasy managers that had Taylor and decided to get Zack Moss as a contingency plan should be able to sleep easy. Moss has played quite a bit this season and in the first Titans game, Moss had 165 rushing yards, and two touchdowns along with two catches for 30 yards.
If you don’t have Moss, there are some other options to look at:
Chuba Hubbard, Carolina Panthers
Hubbard had over 90 total yards last week. He had 45 rushing yards with a touchdown and five catches for 47 yards. That makes Hubbard a potential start in PPR or standard leagues. He’s still available in about 41% of the leagues.
Samaje Perine, Denver Broncos
Perine is especially useful in PPR leagues. He has 33 receptions this season. Last week against the Cleveland Browns had seven carries for 55 yards. He is still available in over 60% of the leagues.
Jeff Wilson Jr., Miami Dolphins
If Devon Achane can’t go, Wilson will back up Raheem Mostert. Last week he had 56 yards on 11 carries against the New York Jets with three catches for 17 yards.
