After only recording 12 carries across the first eight games of the season, Jaguars running back D’Ernest Johnson has tallied 14 carries across the last two weeks, which has led to him generating some fantasy buzz in deeper leagues. Here’s a look at if he holds any value this week.
Fantasy Football analysis: Jaguars RB D’Ernest Johnson
Johnson had 19 yards on seven carries last week against the Texans along with adding a 42-yard reception. While starting running back Travis Etienne hasn’t missed any games this season, he’s been limited with a chest injury, which has led to Johnson getting some extra run.
Start or sit in Week 13 PPR leagues?
While Johnson had seven carries and a 30+ yard reception over the last two weeks, I wouldn’t grab Johnson unless you’re in a really deep league and your lineup has been decimated by injuries and byes. Johnson’s clearly passed Tank Bigsby as the team’s No. 2 back, but there’s a clear ceiling on his production while Etienne is healthy.
Start or sit in Week 13 standard leagues?
Again, I’d only start Johnson unless you’re in a 12-14 man league and are out of other options. The only way he’d be able to provide any value is if he makes a splash play, which is asking a lot.
Player(s) you would start ahead of Johnson
FantasyPros has Johnson ranked as RB40 this week, where he’s between Tyler Allgeier and Kenneth Gainwell. I’d start both of them over Johnson, along with Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson, Jr.
