Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell announced on Thursday that rookie quarterback Jaren Hall will start in Sunday night’s Week 17 matchup against the Green Packers. The Vikings have had a QB carousel spinning in the back half of the 2023 campaign and the BYU product will now be tasked with keeping the team in the playoff race.

Hall began the season as the backup to Kirk Cousins, but was called into action after the veteran suffered a season-ending Achilles tear in late October. He started their Week 9 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, but exited in the first quarter due to a concussion. The team then turned to recently acquired journeyman QB Joshua Dobbs for the next month before eventually replacing him with fellow backup Nick Mullens.

Hall has seen action in just two games this season, going 8-10 for 101 yards with no touchdowns, no interceptions, and a fumble.
