Looking back to recap last week’s TE value plays, we did extraordinarily well. David Njoku, Cole Kmet and Tommy Tremble all got us there and reached double-digit fantasy points. Tremble was a particularly good value at near min-price against the Packers. So we’ll try and capture that essence again this week for the tight end values on DraftKings main Sunday slate.
NFL DFS Picks, Week 17: TE value plays
Isaiah Likely, BAL vs. MIA, $4,600
If we look at options under $5K, Likely and Goedert stick out. The Eagles could get a big lead and run the ball more. The Ravens-Dolphins game should be close and could be high scoring, which is the environment we like for DFS. Likely has at least 8.0 fantasy points in four straight games. Since Mark Andrews went down with injury, Likely hasn’t played fewer than 49 offensive snaps in a game. The Ravens could also be without top wideout Zay Flowers, who is dealing with a calf injury. If that’s the case, Likely could end up being the top target for QB Lamar Jackson. At this price, his ceiling is high and we know what the floor has been.
Logan Thomas, WAS vs. SF, $3,500
Chig Okonkwo ($3,600) is going to be the more popular option in the $3-4K range. But Thomas should get a look for tournaments. We know Jacoby Brissett is going to start at QB, which should be an upgrade over how Sam Howell had been playing. The matchup is tough but the script favors the passing game if the 49ers go up big. Thomas had five catches on six targets for 36 yards and a TD (from Brissett) in the second half of Week 16’s loss to the Jets. It was Thomas’ best fantasy outing since Week 8 vs. the Eagles. He could end up being a solid GPP play at very low ownership.
Durham Smythe, MIA vs. BAL, $2,900
Smythe is getting a lot of love this week with the Dolphins banged up at receiver. WR Tyreek Hill is still dealing with nagging injuries. WR Jaylen Waddle has a high-ankle sprain and could miss Week 17. Both RBs Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane are dealing with something. Smythe could end up being the second or third option in the passing game for Miami this week. Last week, he hauled in five of five targets for 56 yards in the win over Dallas. The Ravens are slight favorites at -3 and the over/under is high at 47 points. Smythe could see more targets if Waddle is out and has a good floor at this price.
Bonus: Also don’t be afraid to run it back with Tommy Tremble at $2,600 again for the Panthers vs. the Jaguars.
