NFL playoff picture: Who to root for in Week 17 if you are a Buffalo Bills fan

Week 17 is here and the Buffalo Bills are in the mix of the AFC playoff picture. Who should Buffalo fans root for to help their chances?

The Buffalo Bills are on roll having won three straight games since coming off their bye week. Consecutive wins over the Chiefs, Cowboys, and Chargers have moved them into sixth place in the AFC playoff standings and two games back of the Dolphins in the AFC East race.

The Bills host the Patriots in Week 17 and have clinching scenarios for the wild card berth. They don’t need help to secure a playoff berth by the end of the season, but they do need some if they want to clinch in Week 17. Bills fans will want to keep an eye on the following matchups this weekend.

Result: Buffalo took care of business with a 27-21 victory over New England. Their Week 18 matchup with the Dolphins will be for the AFC East title and the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoff bracket.

Dolphins vs. Ravens

Buffalo remains alive in the AFC West race and so a Dolphins loss and a Bills win would cut Miami’s lead to one game heading into their Week 18 matchup.

Result: Baltimore blasted Miami in a 56-19 rout. With this result, Bills vs. Dolphins next week will be for the AFC East title.

Jets vs. Browns

The Browns are currently sitting in fifth place with the top wild card position. Cleveland and Buffalo did not face off this season, and the Bills are two games back in the conference record tiebreaker. The Bills need the Browns to lose out to move into fifth place.

Result: The Browns beat the Jets 37-20.

Raiders vs. Colts
Titans vs. Texans
Steelers vs. Seahawks
Bengals vs. Chiefs

These four games are all straight forward. The Bills can clinch a playoff berth with a win and losses by three of the four teams between the Colts, Texans, Steelers, and Chiefs.

Result: Indianapolis defeated Las Vegas 23-20 and Houston defeated Tennessee 26-3. The Steelers beat the Seahawks and the Chiefs beat the Bengals.
