It was a tough slate to navigate last week but we did a good job identifying one QB value play. With the Green Bay Packers’ defense reeling, we went with Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young at $4,700 and he had his best game of the season, throwing for over 300 yards and two TDs in a tough loss. Vikings QB Nick Mullens threw a ton of INTs, but also threw for over 400 yards and a pair of TDs as well. We’ll try and capture some of that success again with values this week on DraftKings main Sunday slate for Week 17.
NFL DFS Picks, Week 17: QB value plays
Jarrett Stidham, DEN vs. LAC, $4,800
A report has come out that the Broncos could bench QB Russell Wilson the rest of the season for financial reasons. If that’s the case, Stidham gets thrown into the fire in a very strong matchup vs. the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 17. Stidham hasn’t played a snap this season but remember, he started a few games in place of Derek Carr late in 2022 for the Las Vegas Raiders. In those games, Stidham was pretty good. He almost led the Raiders to an upset win over the Niners, throwing for 365 yards and three TDs. He also had 14 carries for 84 yards over that two-game stretch. This Chargers team is much easier than last year’s San Fran and Kansas City teams. If Stidham starts, he should be a very appealing GPP option at QB.
Jacoby Brissett, WAS vs. SF, $4,900
The Commanders are making a change at QB late in a lost season. Jacoby Brissett will take over for second-year QB Sam Howell under center for Week 17 vs. the San Francisco 49ers. Now, on paper, this is a bad matchup. For fantasy football, it could be a sneaky good spot for Brissett. The issue is the Commanders O-Line blocking for Brissett. But we know that the veteran has some mobility, which is a plus for fantasy. The 49ers should also be ahead big in this game, which will force Brissett to throw the ball plenty. He looked good enough in Week 16 in the second half vs. the Jets. Brissett should be in very few lineups for big tournaments.
Tyrod Taylor, NYG vs. LAR, $4,600
In a similar move, the Giants are moving away from Tommy DeVito after he was benched in Week 16 vs. the Eagles on Monday. Taylor replaced DeVito and had the Giants in position to pull off the upset. The Rams are vying for a playoff spot and should be throwing the ball a lot. If L.A. builds a lead, Taylor should be doing the same. Taylor has a full stable of weapons with Saquon Barkley, Darren Waller and the receiving core. We also know Taylor can improvise with his legs a bit. At this price, Taylor makes for a decent contrarian play.
