The New England Patriots will go on the road to take on the Denver Broncos in Week 16. Kickoff from Empower Field at Mile High Stadium in Denver, Colorado, is set for 8:15 p.m. ET, and the game will air on NFL Network. New England is coming off a 27-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, while Denver most recently lost 42-17 to the Detroit Lions.

The Broncos are 7.5-point favorites at DraftKings Sportsbook. Denver is installed at -340 on the moneyline, while New England is the +270 underdog. The point total is set at 37. Let’s take a look at how the public is betting on this game ahead of kickoff.

Sunday Night Football betting splits

Patriots vs. Broncos

Patriots +7.5 (64% of handle, 53% of bets)

Despite the Patriots’ 3-11 record heading into this game, the majority of the handle and number of bets are on them to cover the spread. Maybe it’s the fact that it is more than a touchdown, New England has been awful against the spread this year. The Pats are 3-10-1 ATS and have covered only 23.1% of their games this year, the worst mark in the league. Denver hasn’t been much better at 5-8-1, eighth-worst in the NFL.

New England has had a season to forget, but they are at least keeping games relatively close. They lost by 10 to the Chiefs but lost by six, three, four, and three in their four losses prior to last week. The Patriots’ defense is its strong suit, and they should be able to keep this game close in a rare cover for New England.

Under 37 (75% of handle, 60% of bets)

57.1% of Denver’s games this season had hit the under, as has 64.3% of New England’s games. The Patriots are scoring 13.3 points per game, which are the fewest in the NFL. The Broncos are scoring 21.7 points per game, the 16th most in the league. New England’s offense has looked better in its last two games, scoring 17 and 21, respectively, but it still scored a combined 13 points in its three prior games. The public should have this one correct, siding with the under.

Broncos -340 (84% of handle, 91% of bets)

Denver has gone 1-2 in its last three games but had won five games in a row before this stretch. The Patriots took advantage of a bad Pittsburgh Steelers team in Week 14 but otherwise have lost their last six games. This feels like a trap game for the Broncos, but they should be able to pick up a win at home.
