A highly anticipated eight-fight card features previous unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (26-3, 23 KOs) taking on Otto Wallin (26-1, 14 KOs). DAZN’s ‘Day of Reckoning’ takes place on Saturday, December 23 live from Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Coverage of the card starts at 11 a.m. ET.

Joshua is looking to go 3-0 this year, following wins over Jermaine Franklin and Robert Helenius. The former WBA, IBF, and WBO heavyweight titleholder can’t afford to overlook this bout in favor of Deontay Wilder. Many have questioned his mental, but despite another change in trainers, “AJ” seems focused to handle business in this main event collision.

Wallin recently defeated Murat Gassiev in August, earning the WBA Inter-Continental heavyweight title. He’s known for his technical skill and giving his all against Tyson Fury back in 2019. Now the pride of Sweden gets a considerable jump in competition and looks to play spoiler in Joshua’s pursuit of redemption.

Ahead of their clash, let’s go over their potential payouts for the heavyweight fight.

Joshua-Wallin Purse for heavyweight bout

Reports have indicated Joshua agreed to a $40 million two-fight deal in Saudi. He is set to earn an estimated $8 million for this fight, as a win would guarantee him $32 million for his scheduled bout against Wilder next March.

Essentially a win from both Joshua and Wilder on Saturday ensures that both will be compensated come next year for their clash. Wilder is slated to fight Joe Parker in the co-main event prior to Joshua-Wallin.

It is unknown how much Wallin is set to make for this bout, it was reported he made $200,000 for his showdown against Fury back in 2019. Given the magnitude of this fight, it is estimated Wallin could make at least double or triple that, making his estimated purse about a $1 million.

Nonetheless fight fans get a dose of the heavyweight division to close out the year. Joshua and Wallin is sure to be an entertaining bout.
