Update: McConkey is back in the game, but we’ll see if he’s primarily a decoy for the second half.
Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Ladd McConkey, who was dealing with an injury heading into Saturday’s SEC title game against the Alabama Crimson Tide, suffered a leg injury late in the first half after appearing to stumble on a route. McConkey hobbled off the field with a noticeable limp, and his day might be done with the Bulldogs in a 17-7 hole.
McConkey has been relatively quiet for Georgia this season, dealing with several injuries throughout the year. He has put up just 418 yards and two touchdowns on 26 receptions, a disappointing campaign after amassing 762 yards and seven scores a year ago.
With McConkey potentially sidelined for the rest of the game, look for Dominic Lovett and Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint to be more involved in the contest. Brock Bowers and Oscar Delp should also see plenty of snaps with Georgia likely to throw the ball more down 10 to start the second half.
