Even people that pay for Paramout Plus can’t watch the SEC Championship and that’s insane

Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck passes against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the first quarter of the SEC Championship at Mercedes-Benz Stadium John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

The 2023 SEC Championship Game between No. 1 Georgia and No. 8 Alabama is underway and several customers of DirecTV and even the Paramount+ app are unable to watch.

The genesis of this is a carriage dispute between Tegna and DirecTV from earlier in the week. Tegna warned that if a deal wasn’t reached, it could pull several local affiliates in a move that could impact around 5 million customers according to Awful Announcing. On top of the issues with getting the game on DirecTV, Paramount+ users are also getting the short end of the stick in trying to watch the game.

Also this paragraph right from the ParamountPlus website appears to just be an outright lie, and as a subscriber we’re just as mad about this as you are.

We’d never pay for this service if it wasn’t included with our Amex Platinum Card benefits, and things like this are why.
