The San Francisco 49ers dominated the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, clinching the NFC West title in a 45-29 victory. Quarterback Brock Purdy once again put together an excellent performance in the win and he continued to bolster his case for 2023 NFL MVP.

Coming out of Week 15, Purdy is once again the favorite to win MVP with -190 odds at DraftKings Sportsbook. He was in command throughout the Niners’ road victory over the Cards, going 16-25 for 242 yards and four touchdowns for the afternoon. The Mr. Irrelevant of the 2022 NFL Draft has been anything but, as he’s completing roughly 70% of his passes this season and is approaching 4,000 yards.

His performance moved him back ahead of Cowboys QB Dak Prescott, who went from +160 to +450 following a poor performance in Dallas’ 31-10 loss to the Bills. Ravens QB Lamar Jackson (+500) and Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (+1000) are lurking in the hunt, while Purdy’s teammate Christian McCaffrey (+1200) rounds out the top five in MVP odds.

Media pundits have spent weeks arguing whether or not Purdy should actually warrant MVP consideration and that will only go into hyperdrive this week with him being the clear-cut favorite in the eyes of sports books. The knock on the second-year rising star is that he’s been the biggest beneficiary of a 49ers offense loaded with elite weapons like McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle. However, it still takes plenty of skill to actually get the ball to these playmakers and he’ll remain at the top of the board as the Niners hone in on clinching the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
