NFL playoff picture: Who to root for in Week 15 if you are a Chicago Bears fan

The Bears can somehow, someway make it into the postseason. We go over who Bears fans need to root for in Week 15 in order to make the playoffs.

If you can believe it, it’s Week 15 and the Chicago Bears are still not eliminated from playoff contention. The Bears upset the Detroit Lions in Week 14 and are 5-8 on the season, still within grasp of a playoff spot in the NFC. Chicago will need a TON of help to get in, but it’s still realistic. We’ll go over who Bears fans should be rooting for in Week 15. To be very clear before we dive in, the Bears need A LOT to happen in order to get in. Like a lot.

Result: The Browns defeated the Bears 20-17 to improve to 9-5. Cleveland remains in the 5-seed in the AFC playoff standings. The Bears fall to 5-9.

Saints vs. Giants

Result: The Saints defeated the Giants 24-6 in Week 15 to move to 7-7.

The Giants are 5-8 and ahead of Chicago. The Saints are 6-7 and ahead of the Bears. But the Bears need the Saints to lose even though the Giants own the tiebreak. It’ll make a bit more sense when we get further into the games Bears fans need to focus on. But the Saints losing is the way to root here. Chicago fans will need the Giants to lose after this week. The Saints are 5.5-point favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Bucs vs. Packers

Result: The Bucs beat the Packers 34-20 to improve to 7-7 and remain in first place in the NFC South.

Bears fans would be doing this anyway. The Packers need to take a loss this week. The Bears would be tied with Green Bay at 6-8 if they win and the Packers lose to Tampa Bay. It’s also in the Bears’ best interest for the Bucs to just win the NFC South division and the Falcons and Saints to lose games. Chicago would need to jump all of those teams, plus the Bears play the Packers the final game of the regular season. The Packers are 3.5-point favorites on the spread on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Commanders vs. Rams

Result: The Rams beat the Commanders 28-20 to go 7-7, while the Bears lost to go 5-9.

The Rams are 6-7 and sitting in 8th place in the NFC standings entering Week 15. The Bears also need the Atlanta Falcons to lose to the Carolina Panthers, and the Seattle Seahawks to lose on MNF vs. the Philadelphia Eagles. If all five of the Saints, Packers, Rams, Seahawks and Falcons lose, that’s the best-case scenario for the Bears. Unfortunately, it’s another team who is an underdog that Bears fans need to root for. The Rams are 6.5-point favorites at home on DraftKings Sportsbook.
